MYTH: Child Abduction, Attempted Luring & Missing Children Happen SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!

 

Below Are Some Local News Reports about Attempted Abductions in the Lehigh Valley

 

“A teenage boy was walking on the sidewalk when he was approached by a male in a car in the vicinity of Sim’s Market in the 600 block of West Broad Street in Bethlehem.  The male in the car told the boy that he was sent by the boy’s father to pick him up.”

 

“Troopers in the Bethlehem barracks of the Pennsylvania State Police are investigating two incidents in which an unknown man approached juvenile females in a red vehicle and attempted to lure them to him.”

 

“A light-skinned man driving a white Ford sedan with tinted windows tried to lure a child into his car near Broughal Middle School today, Bethlehem police say. “

 

“Police in the Lehigh Valley are looking for a man who attempted to lure, and possibly kidnap, two children. One incident happened in Easton, Northampton County. The other, near Trexler Middle School in Allentown, Lehigh County.”

 

“In Allentown man was charged Wednesday with attempting to lure a 13-year-old girl into his car last month, according to court records. Oscar Espinoza, 29, told the girl to get into his car on Sept. 21 as she walked to Trexler Middle School, according to court documents.”

 

 

“A local man suspected for two attempted child lurings in North Whitehall Township”

 

“About 3 p.m. March 3, a juvenile female saw a red vehicle stopped in the road in the area of Sand Spring Apartments while she was walking to her house from the bus stop, police said. According to police, the unknown man exited the vehicle and ran toward the girl. “

 

“Lower Saucon Township police issued a news advisory Monday about a possible attempted luring of a girl on Ridge Drive on Friday. A girl playing outside in the 2300 block of Ridge Drive reported that a man in a baseball cap driving a dark-colored pickup or SUV stopped in front of her house about 5:45 p.m., police said.”

 

“Officials have released more information about an Easton man who was arrested Saturday on child rape charges. Michael Sebring is accused of repeatedly raping a child. Sebring, 34, of the 1200 block of Washington Street, initially raped the juvenile girl in October 2008 when she was 5-years-old, then at least 14 times between August and December 2013, when she was 10.”

FACT: 1 MILLION CHILDREN ARE REPORTED MISSING OR ABDUCTED ANNUALLY**

Of the children reported missing, 350,000 are taken by family members in violation of custody agreements.

There are about 50,000+ non-family-member abductions occurring each year. The assailants are acquaintances or complete strangers to the victims.

The remaining of the approximately 1 Million missing children cases include runaways, abandoned, or lost children.

In 16% of family abductions, the child experiences severe mental harm.

8% of the children experience physical harm.

More than 65% of the children abducted by non-family members are girls.

46% of these children are sexually abused.
